YOUNG RUGBY AMBASSADOR LAUNCH
Following the County's launch event at Gosford All Blacks RFC we were keen to follow up the enthusiasm in the room with an event of our own at Abingdon RFC. With the 6 Nations approaching we thought it would a great opportunity to bring the club together and run a touch competition based on the 6 Nations. We didn't have a lot of time to plan , but we used our mentor contacts with London Welsh to source some tickets as prizes and booked the 1st team pitch with full floodlights and the event planning had started.
One of the issues we faced was although we advertised the event throughout the club and on social media we couldn't be sure how many players would attend but we're surprised to see over 80 players turn up on a near freezing evening in South Oxfordshire.
The event was won by Ireland who pipped Scotland for the title and It was Wales who picked up the wooden spoon. Some of the feedback we received was really positive....
U7 player that was epic....
U11 coach - we forget rugby is also about having fun and tonight was just that great fun.....
U12 parent - these events will bring the club closer together and break down boundaries between the senior and junior sections...
So overall, it was a good start to our Young Ambassador roles, we learnt some things along the way such as buy more hot dogs! However, it hasn't put as off and we are already planning our next event.
