RFU Age Grade registration update.
In the last two weeks we’ve already had over 5,500 new Age Grade registrations and over 13,000 updated registrations – with many more pending. This is testament to your fantastic work, support and your leadership of this process within your clubs – thank you.
Ahead of the first weekend of the season we wanted to share our top tips and important updates to aid you to complete their registrations. We've also provided a FAQ list below to answer any questions you may have.
Important GMS update
Please note we have been advised there are some issues with emails sent from GMS being received by the Yahoo mail service, which includes Sky, BT and AOL. We have increased the time limit to verify an email address or reset a password to 48 hours to allow for delayed delivery. However, if still not received then the GMS Service Desk will assist. Individuals should email GMS@rfu.com.
There have also been significant improvements to system performance following feedback from the weekend.
Top Tips
1. The majority of parents have an existing record in GMS (if they have a child registered, completed RFU courses or have been a registered player) and should be sent the “Update Family Registration” link (see how to generate this link here). Only new parents and players, i.e. those who have never played or been involved with rugby, should be sent the “Create Account” link (see guide here).
2. Direct parents to the registration video and PDF guides here:
3. Remember that player registration via GMS can take place 24/7 (within 45 days of the season or starting at a club) - you don’t need to wait to do it all in one go.
4. Follow us on @AgeGradeRugby – we will continue to put updates and further guidance here. Use this to shout about the great work you’re doing.
Some updated FAQs
Q: What should I do if a player is on GMS but their parent isn’t?
A: You should ask the parent to add themselves using the ‘Create Account’ link. Once they have done this, you will need to link this parent to the child and provide the ‘Update Family Registration’ link to update their child’s record.
Q: How do we do player transfer? What if a player transfers from another club.
A: There are no “transfers” in the Age Grade game as a player can play at more than one club. If they are doing so, they will need to be listed as a registered player at their primary club and a non-registered player at other clubs (you would provide the "Update family registration" link). If they have left a club - ensure the ‘old club’ has de-registered them and then provide with "Update family registration" link to their new club.
Q: Will all the records for U16, U17, U18 be removed / de-registered?
A: No. We are not deregistering players, or removing them from the system. They will still appear on the team list and registered, however to re-register, parents are required to update their records (click here for how to do this).
Q: How do I know if a parent has updated their record?
A: On the team management tab, you will be able to see that there has been an update to medical history, emergency contact, the photo and other consent which means that a parent has updated their record.
