Banbury U16s Do the Double
Banbury U16s, one of the most successful sides in Oxfordshire junior rugby, won the Oxfordshire U16 Division 1. Team captain Jake Anderson receiving the trophy on behalf of his team from Ken Bumpass, President of the ORFU. Banbury, last year's U15 winners, have dominated this age group for a number of years, and put on a dazzling display of rugby in the spring sunshine to show why they were such worthy champions. Henley Hawkes U16s took the division two title.
In the U15 divisions, Wallingford finished the Div 1 league season unbeaten, winning by a 7 point margin from Chinnor who were worthy runners up. Chinnor pushed Wallingford all the way but knew they had a tough ask ahead of them today to achieve a bonus point win. A gripping match of high quality junior rugby saw Wallingford clinch the title with a 10-7 win. In division two, Abingdon were run-away league winners and are promoted to Division 1 for next season. Oxford secured the runner-up positions and will face Banbury U15s in the play off.
