RFU CRC Nick Todd visited Boundary Park.
Having recently acquired the use of a new scrum machine Didcot RUFC approached Nick Todd (RFU Community Rugby Coach) to provide a specialist session for their senior forwards, together with a tutorial in the safe use of the machine.
On Tuesday 11th April 2017 the players were first put through exercises designed to improve their understanding of correct individual body position, ability to self-correct and assess the shape of team mates. Further practices demonstrated how the players can put their positions under pressure and develop strategies to regain shape before then bringing all of the work together with several live scrummaging and machine scrummaging exercises. With increased confidence and knowledge amongst the forwards it is hoped that more players will be encouraged to take part in scrum and fewer games will be at risk due to a lack of suitably trained front row players.
"Just wanted to say a big thank you for last night. I've had several calls from the players saying how good it was and to pass on there thanks." - Lee Hackett, Didcot RUFC
