Important travel information from HQ
For those of you that have tickets for this weekend's 6 Nations game at Twickenham please heed the following travel advice.
Be aware that there will be no London overground service from Richmond to Gunnersbury due to work on the track. All Piccadilly line trains from Hounslow East and the District Line services from Richmond should be fine. The South West line to Windsor via Staines is also back up and running after recent extreme weather problems. However, with more storms forecast before the weekend it’s worth checking. All other South West trains will run an enhanced service for the match. Shuttle buses will run as normal from and to Richmond and to Hounslow East post match.
Our weather expert John Kettley says that we can expect likely Friday overnight rain to clear quickly to bring dry weather, sunny intervals and a moderate breeze. Sunglasses and a wooly scarf – sounds like rugby weather!
Twickenham’s new pitch drains so well that the recent constant rain has presented no problems. But as the water washes through the sand root zone it takes nutrients with it so more fertilization has been required than normal. And despite 60mph winds only two branches were lost from the stadium’s trees
