Ian Bland Trophy Abingdon 1st 40 – OFRS 0
"The Ian Bland Memorial match was played on September 2nd at Abingdon RFC, 33 years on from the first game which I played in. A committed game by all but Abingdon had too much for the Fire Service, who were not as organised as Abingdon 1st team. Mrs Bland was on the touch line and very humbled by the occasion. A really good crowd as well. Abingdon scored some good tries and converted a couple but it was Abingdon’s defence which should reap applause as they kept a clean sheet against a very determined Fire Service side. Well done to all players. Hope you were watching Ian!”

“This was a tough test, with 14 regulars pulling out on match day we all did well to keep the score as it was. Congratulations to Abingdon they were very well drilled and organised. As for the Fire Service, this is our first full term back after reforming and we still managed to gather a squad of 23. I can’t thank the players enough for taking time off from shift or rearranging their On-Call commitments. Well done to the squad who really put their bodies on the line and to Jake Richardson who put in a captains shift!”
"Getting some regular faces is very promising."
"Next up the Blue Boar!"
