79 girls attended our first event at Grove RFC.
On Sunday 26th February Oxfordshire RFU ran the first of five Girls Development Programme sessions. Aimed at Under 13s to Under 18s, and open to all abilities from clubs and schools, the session at Grove RFC attracted 79 girls.
Part of the project aims is to attract female coaches into the game. Seven female coaches supported the session; from varying levels of the coaching pathway, such as Young Rugby Ambassadors programme, County coaches and club coaches.
The session proved to be a great success for Oxfordshire, with positive and constructive feedback to take into the next session in April. Other sessions will look at core skills and game understanding associated to continuity, defence and other CPD’s.
Thank you to all the girls, parents, Grove RFC and volunteers; special thanks to Kevin Moggridge from the South-West Divisional Girls for his support of the programme.
