Providing opportunities for Girls Rugby in Oxfordshire.
Sunday 14th May, saw Session Three of the Oxfordshire Girls Development Programme (OxGDP) take place at Chipping Norton RUFC. The aim of which is to give female rugby players and coaches in the game, similar exposure to what the lads have with their development pathways.
For this session we had Kevin Moggridge, South-West Divisional Girls Talent & Development Officer, going through core body exercises. Nick Todd and Gary Morris, RFU Community Rugby Coaches, running a session on offloading and finishing; and Gareth Lewis, Level 3 Coach & Mentor, running a handling session on how to attack the wide channels. All ably assisted by Fran Ronan from Oxford Brookes University.
The girls attending came from the U11s all the way up to U18s; covering all the girls age groups. Those in attendance came from clubs and schools with a mix of ability and experience. Word is obviously getting around about the sessions as we had five girls from Cheltenham Tigers join us, which is fantastic.
We would like to thank Chipping Norton RUFC for hosting the session; with special thanks to Frances Morton.
