Gary Morris provides an insight.
This has been a promising and interesting season for the Oxfordshire RFU Under 15 Girls.
The new Management Team of Head Coach Andy Hargrave and Team Manager Kirsten Hayes joined Polly Richardson and Fran Ronan, Assistant Coaches, who remained from last season to provide continuity of coaching.
The squad saw a change of personnel, with some girls moving up to the Under 18s Squad and some new faces coming in from the last years Under 13s. The girls were selected from Banbury RUFC, Gosford All Blacks RFC, Grove RFC and Cherwell School; and proved to be a good mix of talent potential, positive attitudes and willingness to learn and develop. All attributed to the continued hard work of our club coaches and school teachers involved.
Although the three County fixtures all ended in defeat, the gelling and development of the whole squad was evident throughout training and playing. The opening game against Cornwall RFU (at Banbury RUFC) showed the squad potential and try-scoring ability; while there were positives performances against Devon RFU and Dorset & Wilts RFU.
Gary Morris said, "Well done to all of the girls who put themselves forward for County this season; and a big thank you to all those involved in the management and coaching. Finally a big thanks to all of the parents for their continued support; especially for getting the girls to the away venues."
Oxfordshire RFU would like to say a big well done to everyone involved.
