Announcement on Chris Freeman, Managing Director.
Oxfordshire Sport and Physical Activity (OxSPA) have announced that Chris Freeman, Managing Director, will be leaving his post at the end of April 2018 to explore new business and work opportunities.
Chris has been Managing Director since 2006 and was instrumental in setting up the Partnership and the Sport and Physical Activity Board. Since this time, OxSPA and partners have achieved the vision of making Oxfordshire the most active county in England and consistently achieved inactivity levels amongst the lowest in the country. Under Chris’ leadership the organisation has also secured over £15 million of funding for sport and physical activity and introduced ground-breaking projects such as GO Active, Active Women, GO Active Get Healthy and Active Body Healthy Mind.
After recent changes by Sport England and a strategic review by OxSPA into its future direction he now feels it is a good time to pass on the baton.
As Keith Johnston Chairman of OxSPA states: ‘I would like to recognise the valuable and constructive support that has been given by Chris and the team during the recent review process. Chris has made a major contribution to sport and physical activity within the county and we wish him well in his future endeavours.’
Whilst Chris Freeman states: ‘It’s been a real privilege to be able to build and grow a Partnership from scratch and work with so many great people and achieve the success we’ve had in Oxfordshire. I wish everyone the best of luck for the future’
OxSPA will shortly be advertising for a new Managing Director. In the meantime all enquiries should be directed to Mary Nicholls Interim Managing Director (mnicholls@oxford.gov.uk) or Ed Nicholas Interim Sport and Physical Activity Manager (enicholas@oxford.gov.uk).
