Witney RFU are delighted to be the host of this year’s International TAG Festival, to be held at their Hailey Road, Witney RFC on Saturday 3rd June 2017.
This year Witney RFC are also delighted that they will be joined by Phil Vickery MBE, former England International player. Phil was a member of England’s World Cup winning squad in 2003, playing in all seven matches in the tournament, and is a former England Captain.
The Witney Wolves Special Educational Needs (SEN) Tag team was established nearly 10 years ago and from small beginnings now has a squad of 35 players with disabilities including Downes Syndrome, Autism and severe learning disability. Aged from 6 to 24 years old the Witney Wolves simply is a team that turns “CAN’T do kids into CAN DO kids”.
This year the festival also sees the launch of a new Witney Wolves Logo specially designed by the famous Walt Disney artist Giorgio Cavazzano. Giorgio was so inspired by the Wolves during a couple of trips to the club with his close friend Jeremy Bristoe (Head Coach) that he committed himself to not only redesign the Witney Wolves logo but also has created a new “SUPERHERO” in real Disney style called “SUPERTAGDUCK” which it is hoped will become the global banner for SEN TAG Rugby all over the world.
The event is held annually and this year proves to be bigger than ever with teams travelling from all over the UK and Ireland!
Over 250 players and supported by over 400 relatives and friends will attend the festival and all are welcome to join us on the day from 12.00 – 5.30 on Saturday 3rd June.
