Women lose to Sussex in second match.
Crawley RFC was the venue for the County Women's second match in the County Championship Plate where quality kicks from Sussex made the difference.
If we were to look just at the score, it will tell you one story. We lost 32 – 5. Does the difference in the score reflect the whole game, not necessarily!
A solid kicker that can relieve pressure and push the opposition back into their own half and a back line that can counter attack and punish the not so good kicks were the main differences. Their backline had quick hands and pace, combined with a quality kicker, saw Sussex 15-0 up at the break. The second half saw a couple of more tries, one a nice chip and chase over the defensive line, before Oxfordshire struck back. Sussex then took advantage of a wayward clearance and their 15 ran in another.
Despite the score, we should still be proud of what we did and the development of the squad is there for all to see. Hopefully the battered and grazed knees from the rock hard pitch will be healed in time for our Home fixture v Hertfordshire on the 15th at Gosford All Blacks RFC. Kick off 1400
