Oxfordshire RFU Age Grade Review Recommendations March 2016:
1. Consistent with previous years, the current U12s will continue with the New Rules of Play as they become U13s in September 2016
2. With 15 a side Rugby starting at U14 in both clubs and schools; we recommend clubs take this age grade as the new administrative break-point – what was previously the break between Mini and Junior Rugby. But this is your decision and it is one that should be taken to best reflect club specific needs
3. The Age Grade Review has four progressive stages in respect of competitions and we will be adopting these guidelines in all of our County Activity
- U7 to U11 Friendlies, Triangulars and Festivals
- U12 to U13 Waterfall Tournaments
- U14 Knock Out Tournaments
- U15 to U18 Leagues with Knock Out Tournaments at U15 if required
4. Because of our different pitch numbers and sizes, clubs will have to be flexible in arranging U7 to U13 friendlies and Triangulars, but that is no different to what happens today
5. At U14 we envisage club friendly fixtures being arranged as currently – as an age grade on their own, or with adjacent age grades
6. The County will no longer be running an U13 Cup Competition or U13s 10s Festival, but we will be looking to introduce an end of season U13 Waterfall Tournament in 2017
7. The U14 to U16 County Competitions will continue as currently
