Henley Hawks Women hosted an England Rugby #InnerWarrior Camp on Wednesday 25th April with 22 participants enjoying the opportunity at Dry Leas.
Nick Todd, RFU Community Rugby Coach, joined the #InnerWarrior Camp to support the event; led by Henley Hawks Women's coach Olivia Perry.
#InnerWarrior Key Messages:
- Inner Warrior is an England Rugby campaign aimed at women aged 18-35, encouraging greater female participation in contact rugby across England
- One year on from launch the campaign: over 12,500 women have participated in Warrior Camps across the country, attracted over 4,200 new players and resulted in over 41 new teams.
- Team sports, such as rugby, help provide motivation, support and encouragement to participants and a sense of accountability – making fitness fun and social while providing a sense of accomplishment for those that take part - giving them the motivation to keep training.
- From 13-29 April, around 100 Warrior Camps will take place in rugby clubs across England.
- The Warrior Camps are fun, non-committal rugby taster sessions
- England Rugby recently announced there are over 30,000 registered female players, playing rugby regularly. By 2021 England Rugby wants to engage 100,000 females in rugby and have 50,000 registered female players.
- Inner Warrior aims to foster the growing appetite for rugby among women aged 18-35, providing awareness of the opportunities available to them within their local clubs
