£4,310 raised for the two chosen charities.
The head of the RFU Injured Players Foundation, Karen Hood, was welcomed to Abingdon RFC recently, to receive a cheque for £2,155 raised by the club during its Anniversary Charity Ball. The cheque was presented to Karen during her visit to Abingdon RFC by Club Chairman Pat Sweeney and Club Secretary Graham McDonough.
Abingdon RFC were delighted to welcome over 160 club members, past and present, to celebrate the 30 memorable years since the club moved to Lambrick Way.
They were honoured to host the RFU President, Chris Kelly, as the guest speaker for the evening; Chris provided some entertaining stories and insight gained from his experiences during his tenure as RFU President.
A primary objective of the evening's celebrations was to raise money in aid of two charities close to the club’s heart: RFU Injured Players Foundation and Helen & Douglas House.
Abingdon RFC have thanked the incredible generosity of club members and local community businesses in donating auction and raffle prizes; the club managed to raise £4,310 on the evening. The money is being split equally between the two chosen charities.
