New RFU Player Registration System
The RFU is pleased to introduce a new online Player Registration System, which is now available to use via the Clubs portal. It’s a quick and easy method of registering and managing adult players at rugby clubs playing at Level 5 and below.
The new service offers volunteers at clubs a better way to update player information and is the first stage of wider improvement work covering many of the RFU’s key game administration systems over the coming months – including the Club Administration System – see below.
The Player Registration System has an updated design and layout and includes new features which will improve the usability of the old system – for convenience, all existing player data will be carried across.
Initially, both systems will be available to registrars using the same login details and all registrations will appear in both systems. After a period of bedding in, the old version will be switched off.
Training sessions with the RFU’s IT Training Officer, Max Burton, are being set up across the country to support the launch, thanks to the help of CBs and RFU Rugby Development Officers. Dates will be advertised in the coming weeks and all registrars are encouraged to attend these sessions.
To help registrars, user guides have also been created and are available upon logging in to the new system.
In order to ensure it continues to meet the needs of registrars, a development email address playerregistration@therfu.com has been set up to receive ideas for improving the service. Responses are not actively monitored, but will be reviewed for future development projects.
All day-to-day system issues and questions should continue to be sent to the helpdesk on rugbyfirstsupport@therfu.com or 0208 831 6651 between 09:00-13:00 and 14:00-17:00 Monday to Friday.

In the pipeline: New Club Administration System
In addition to Player Registration improvements, development is also fully underway on the new Club Administration System to replace the RugbyFirst Clubs portal. After extensive research with grass roots volunteers we highlighted the areas of the system that are used, the areas you wished to see improved, and the areas that are no longer required.
The new system will modernise and streamline all the administration tasks that will not only make it easier to enter and manage your data, but will display and output your data in a much more usable fashion.
This phase of development will focus on the administration aspects including Membership, Roles, Teams, Email and Reporting and will also give every club and CB a public facing page accessible via rfu.com that will show the details, contacts as well as fixtures and results.
One aspect that will not be included in this phase will be the ability for the clubs and CBs to create their own webpages. The research strongly indicated that only a minority of clubs used the webpage functionality and would prefer the RFU systems to focus on the day-to-day administration functions, rather than trying to be a website content management tool.
All membership data will be carried across to the new system on the day it goes live so please continue using the current clubs system for your membership needs.
Thanks for your support.
