Message from Chris Skaife, Executive Chairman.
Saturday 13th May 2017 saw the first of two Volunteer Recognition events where Oxfordshire RFU took the opportunity to recognise and thank 21 of our volunteers from across a number of clubs in the County. Hosted at Henley Hawks, our volunteers enjoyed a delightful lunch and the presentation of a certificate and gifts by the County Executive Chairman, Chris Skaife. The event gave the County and clubs the opportunity to recognise the invaluable support and time our volunteers give and dedicate to the game of rugby, and through a wide variety of different roles. The volunteers then had the opportunity to watch and support our Men’s County side as they played Essex RFU in the County Championships. Despite a valiant and committed performance, the Men unfortunately lost 30-29 in an exceptionally close fought game that went right down to the last kick.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to Henley Hawks for hosting the event, as well as all our volunteers that joined us on the day. We would also like to make a huge thank you to Gina Overton for being the driving force behind the event, and all her hard work puling it together.
The second Volunteer Recognition event takes place next week on 20th May 2017 at Chinnor RFC, again coinciding with the Men’s County fixture against Notts/Lincs/Derbs RFU. So please do come down and meet our volunteers and support the Men’s County side.
